Obituary

LaRee Moir, 73, of Dimock, SD, died Sunday, June 26, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, July 2, at Bittner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday, at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

LaRee Mae Moir was born April 2, 1949, to Roland and Ruth (Phillips) Kendall in Mitchell, SD. LaRee grew up and attended school in Mitchell.

LaRee was united in marriage to Larry D. Moir on August 27, 1966. Larry was a mineman in the United States Navy and served for over 28 years with LaRee by his side. She enjoyed all the overseas tours to various countries such as Italy, Spain, Greece, and Germany. Some say LaRee had the hardest job in the Navy, being a “Navy Wife”. She kept everything going on the homefront while Larry was deployed. They had three daughters, Kim, Tami, and Liz. There were also two friends of Kim and Tami’s (Georgia and Tammy) who were considered “adopted daughters” if you will. All while being one of the best waitresses any customer would be glad to have. LaRee was a waitress for 55 years and her “regular” customers and co-workers felt like family to her.

LaRee also enjoyed bowling, going four-wheeling out in the Hills with family and friends, going to Nascar races, and car shows on the weekends with their Diamond T pickup and 1950 Studebaker pickup.

LaRee was a hardworking, loving, caring, strong-willed, fierce, and very loyal woman. To many, this became very clear when she started having health issues in 2011. We, as a family, believe that these qualities made her the wonderful wife, mother, grandma, and friend to all that knew her.

LaRee is survived by her husband, Larry; three daughters, Kim, Tami, Liz, and spouses; three granddaughters, Cortney, Kahryn, Kaylynn, and spouse; sister, Debbie; brother, Richard; one beloved dog, Rylee; great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Stan and Butch.

I first met Mrs Moir in mid-late 1978, when she visited her husband - Larry, then a 1st Class MN stationed on Crete. I met her and Larry again at the Oct 2008 AOM Reunion. She was a classy lady and seemed ageless. My deepest condolences to Larry Moir and family

Laree is the favorite Aunt of me (Karl) and my wife (Rhonda) Abts. This woman had a unique way of making me laugh when no one else could. Laree and I had a special bond... Pie in the face at any family gathering that involved cake. She was an incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother and Aunt. She brought good times and fun to anyone she was near. This world will not be the same without her. Miss ya forever Laree.
