Obituary

LeRoy "Roy" Tiede, 92, of Wheat Ridge, CO, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, in Wheat Ridge, CO. Services are pending under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel.

LeRoy J. Tiede was born September 29, 1933, to John and Antonia (Winter) Tiede in Parkston, SD.  The family moved to Mitchell when Roy was 13 after he received his High School diploma. He joined the Air Force in 1952, Korea in 1953-3 battle stars. Roy married Darlene Henzlik for 50 years. Together, they built a life from the ground up. First to FT. Worth, Texas, "Carswell" AFB back to Mitchell, Dakota Wesleyan University, then on to Vermillion, SD. He graduated in 1960 with a master's degree in business administration and was a recipient of the USD School of Business Achievement Award. LeRoy started his career in Chicago as a financial analyst for Ford Motor & Standard Oil, along with a public auditor for Arthur Andersen.

He then returned to Vermillion as vice President for business and finance and controller for the University of South Dakota. He served in Pierre, SD, as associate commissioner for administration for the South Dakota Board of Regents. Retired from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI, as interim president and moved to Arizona. Active in the community, Roy was a member/president of Rotary clubs and on the governing board/finance committee of the United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Beal; son, Gary Tiede of Colorado; 6 grandchildren: Jenny Wyly of Milwaukee, Tiffany (Tom) White of CO; Chad (Rachel) Wyly of SD, Greg (Kendra) Beal of CO, Tyler (Shelby) Stirn of MI, Jesse Stirn of MO, and 7 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Tiede (Wilbert's Wife).

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Darlene and Donna; daughters, Susan Tiede and Sheryl Stirn; brother, Clarence (Marcelline), Wilbert "Will" Tiede; sister, Wynetta (Ruben) Weisser; sister, Altea (Chris) Dewald, and great-granddaughter, Selah Stirn. 

Roy left a legacy of a well-lived, a love well shared!
