Lyle Feddersen, 71, of Mt. Vernon, SD, died Monday, October 25, 2021, at his home under hospice care in rural Mt. Vernon. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 6, at Murdo Cemetery in Murdo, SD. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
A golden heart stopped beating on October 25, 2021, at his home in Mount Vernon, SD, surrounded by his loved ones. He fought a courageous battle against cancer.
Lyle Gene Feddersen was born in Murdo, SD on August 24, 1950, to Adolph and Henrietta “Harriet” (Jonkers) Feddersen. Lyle and his siblings attended Jones County schools. Lyle worked on the family farm with his siblings. Lyle also worked on the Eldon Magnuson's farm growing up. With a smile and tear in his eye, he had very fond memories with the whole Magnuson family.
Lyle was drafted into the airborne division in 1971, and served in the Vietnam War in Germany. After returning home he started his truck driving career with Feiners out of Ethan. Trucking was something that really grew on him, and he prided himself on being a very loyal employee over the years. His dedication pushed that odometer to over 8 million miles. He worked part-time at CHR Solutions in the Bill Print department, and he also helped with Travis and Carmen's cleaning business. Lyle was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need!
He was united in marriage to Kristine Hammond on November 27, 1978, and with their union, the family grew with children, Carmen, Scott, and Tyler.
Lyle loved life, family, and friends. He'd always have a couple jokes to share and would do anything to make you smile. He loved fishing, the dogs, horses, playing cards and games. Monopoly games got heated many times with his grandkids. Lyle was a huge sports fan, especially if it involved his family. He loved our Venom softball family. Lyle always saw the best in everyone, and would share a joke or one of his many stories to people he had never even met before, just to make them smile.
Grateful for sharing his life are his children, Kris Feddersen of Mitchell, Carmen (Travis) Walz of Mt. Vernon, Scott Feddersen of Mitchell, and Tyler Feddersen of Mt. Vernon; six grandchildren, Taylor Walz (John), Camie Walz (Trevor), Hailey Walz, Addison Feddersen, Jordyn Clark, and Izaiah Feddersen; three great-grandchildren, Tana, Raiden, and Jaxson; brothers, Johnny, Melvin “Butch” (Lana), Marvin (Val), Milton “Shorty” (Judy), all of Murdo, SD; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roland and Allen Feddersen; sister, Yvonne Byrd; nephew, Brian Feddersen; and sister-in-law, Maxine Feddersen.
He perhaps wasn't exactly one of a kind for he reminded me of your Grandfather Adolf along with your Uncle Allen but having a joke said or a prank played was a big part of being around Lyle. I can only say my condolences 🙠but we were all fortunate enough to have had Lyle in our lives for mine would have been a bit more boring. I really don't think that if Lyle was around it could possibly be boring.
Be Missed. My Deepest Sympathy to All.
