Melvin Eilts, 88, of Spencer, SD, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2026, at Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, July 17, at First Baptist Church in Emery, SD, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Emery Community Cemetery in Emery, SD.

Cousins from Illinois. Met Melvin & Betty July 4th 1958. As new brides, Betty & I bonded right away. And we became new moms shortly after. So sorry to have lost them both.

We became friends with Betty and Melvin after we moved to Spencer in 2002. I only wish we had many more years with both of them. We had such good times playing cards and cribbage. May God's blessings be with his family as they say goodbye to a very special guy.
