Obituary

Morris Titze, 84, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at Edgewood Assisted Living in Mitchell. Services are pending under the direction of Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Morris Gustav Titze was born on December 7, 1941, to Gustav and Alma (Wittenhagen) Titze at the Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, SD.

Morris attended the Union 3 country school through the 8th grade, often walking or biking three miles to school. He worked for City of Mitchell Sanitation Department for 41 years.

Morris enjoyed driving his 1997 brown Blazer around town and attending races in Huron.

Morris had a deep affection for animals, especially his dachshunds, Buttercup and Mira, whom he spoke of to everyone he met. He was a familiar face at Jack’s Sinclair, where he enjoyed meeting with his regular lunch group to talk with members of the community. An avid sports fan, he rarely missed a chance to watch basketball or football on the sports channels. He also took great pride in his "small home," which was a converted schoolhouse he had remodeled.

He is survived by his brother, Royce (Sharon) Titze of Mitchell; his cousin, Randy Hornback of Lead, SD, and several members of the Titze family in the local area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Alma.

Royce and Sharon...My condolences to you and your family. I met Morris when I worked at Jack's Sinclair while in college, and I truly came to think of him as a friend. He always greeted me with a smile and a chuckle, and that’s how I’ll remember him. Wishing you peace during this difficult time.

Rest in peace Morris...Say hi to everyone; especially Dude...Cause he's just a plain, old, dog...

Royce and Sharon, I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many great memories of going out to the farm, there was more than 1. Every farm you lived on there were fun times because you and Sonny were there. We climb barn rooftops , rode Trigger who stood on my foot until you got him off of me, road down hill on the home made cars, walking down by the creek, climbing trees, Lincoln Logs, Chinese Checkers, being chased by the mean, old rooster, and the meals your Mom always made for our family. There are so many memories. I love you and I am so very sorry for the loss of your brother and my cousin.

RIP dear cousin. I have so many special memories of visiting the farms you lived on. All the times we begged you put a bridle on Trigger so we could ride him. Always so patient and kind. Royce you are in our prayers. You were the best brother ever.
