Norma Boyden, 87, of Mitchell, SD, died Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Prairie View Healthcare Center in Woonsocket. A Celebration of Life will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday, May 27, at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Norma Fay Boyden was born December 20, 1934, to Charles and Stella (Ressl) Farris in Murdo, SD. She grew up in Murdo, and later moved to Mitchell where she graduated from Mitchell High School. After high school, Norma attended South Dakota State University and graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University.

Norma was united in marriage to Donald Boyden on June 6, 1957 in Mitchell, SD.

Norma worked as a teacher and supported many music organizations, singing with the Middle Border Chorus. She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, photography and collecting teddy bears. Norma was a vegetarian for over 25 years, and was an active supporter of animal rights organizations. Norma enjoyed her Cardigan Welsh Corgi furry friends throughout her life.

Norma is survived by her sons, Drew Boyden of Mitchell and Derek Boyden of WA, and siblings, Janet Miller of Mitchell and Bill (Noelle) Farris of Ponte Vedra, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald and brothers, Jack and Jerry.
