Obituary

Perry Waite, 70, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. A celebration of Perry's life is pending at this time.

Perry Bryan Waite was born on April 19, 1956, in Watertown, SD, to Morris Waite Jr. and Carol (Fossum) Waite. He began his school days at Grant Elementary in Watertown and in 1974 received his GED.

Prior to enjoying driving cars, he had lots of them throughout the years, selling one and then buying another. Perry and his brother Tim trekked with their bikes all around Watertown, city blocks turning into miles as they practically wore out their Schwinn bikes. And by cycling, they would visit the local car dealers and pick up brochures in their display stands. When Perry obtained his driver's license, he and his brother would "try" out cars.

Perry's favorite car was his 1977 Oldsmobile 98. He made two memorable trips in that car from Watertown to the Texas border (Donna, Texas) where he assisted his parents as they did various jobs at the mission there.

Perry especially enjoyed helping a farm couple who lived south of Watertown. They provided him with room and board as he helped with their crops and cattle.

Perry called Mitchell his home for some years. While living there, he made some really great, meaningful friends. Throughout his life, he loved going to church, singing the old gospel hymns, and fellowshipping with friends. He loved his BIBLE, and he loved his Precious SAVIOR, JESUS.

A few years ago Perry received a very special Gift. Walter Grasser's very own BIBLE. Walter Grasser had left a wonderful Christian testimony. Perry loved and treasured that BIBLE!

We, siblings, will cherish phone conversations and visits we had with Perry. The good times, helping with encouragement needed. Perry continually expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the things we did for him. His sister from Texas, though hoping to see him yet while on this earth, expressed. If not again here on earth, then we will meet in Heaven. He will be missed, and we say again, "We will see you around JESUS' throne."

Perry is survived by his sisters, Nancy (Seth) Halbert of Roy, WA, Jennifer (Randy) Nabors of Center Point, TX; brother, Timothy (Marily) Waite of Florence, SD, along with three nephews and 3 nieces.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Carol.

Perry was the sweetest guy and always made me smile when I had home health visits with him. Never had a negative thing to say and was always so proud to help his friends. Prayers to his family and friends.

I enjoyed every discussion with Perry about his cars and he always talked with me about my cars too. We miss Perry on earth but great joy in Heaven with The Lord.
