Obituary

Robert “Bob” Titze, 70, of Plankinton, SD, passed away at home on Saturday, January 10, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on January 31, 2026, from 2-4:00 PM at Plankinton United Methodist Church in Plankinton.

Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a man whose kindness, humor, and steady presence enriched so many lives.

Robert “Bob” Titze was born on January 31, 1955, in Mitchell, SD, to Leonard and Bernice (Heezen) Titze. He attended Baker #10, Pleasant Lake Township School, and then Stickney High School, graduating in 1973. He enjoyed his high school years, recalling the “occasional” party, but also earned many accolades in sports, including MVP in Track and Football, and held state track records for many years. He attended the University of South Dakota at Springfield for one year before starting work as a rural mail carrier. On June 15, 1979, he married Elaine Nydam, and together they purchased a farm south of Plankinton where they raised 4 children.

Bob dedicated many tireless years to managing the farm, raising sheep, planting and harvesting crops, and planting countless trees, all while delivering mail full-time. At the age of seven, he lost his father in an accident, and he strove to provide for his family in a way his father had not been able to.

He will be remembered for his humble, hardworking nature, sense of humor, and quiet pride he had for his children and grandchildren with whom he shared countless memories; fishing at the dugout, giving tractor rides, playing on the gravel pile, hunting, and picking pears off his tree. Grandpa Bob made an unforgettable impact on their lives and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his sons: Nick Titze of Canton, SD, and Donald (Whitney) Titze of Plankinton, SD; daughters: Emily(Greg) Moeller of White Lake, SD, and Angela (Chris) Schaefer of Long Lake, MN; brother, Glen Titze; sisters: Donna Collom and Lois Muilienburg; brother-in-law, Ron Nydam;12 grandchildren: Ruth, Morgan, and Walter Titze of Canton, SD, Landon, Logan, and Liam Moeller of White Lake, SD, Carter, Hunter, and Alexander Schaefer of Long Lake, MN, Rylee, Wesley, and Evan Titze of Plankinton, SD

He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine Titze; parents, Leonard and Bernice Titze; sisters, Judy Witherspoon and Ardis Merino.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Aurora County Cancer Fund or Plankinton Ambulance Service.
