Sharon Kay Mork beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister peacefully passed away in her home at the age of 76. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Monday morning after a five-month battle with cancer. Sharon was the child of loving parents Lawrance and Florence Browen and primarily grew up in Emery, SD, where her family enthusiastically attended the Baptist church, and she was the Emery High homecoming queen.
Upon high school graduation, she enrolled in Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in 1964 and finished at the top of her class. This was the beginning of a 58-year career in the hair business where she became an icon and a friend to all the people she met along the way. She spent 35 years with Hair by Stewart’s rising to VP of salon operations managing and mentoring stylists and salon managers in over 150 salons across the Midwest. In 1999 she started Agape Salon & Spa and continued to manage until the present time. Agape became her extended family and was always a place of love for Sharon, the stylists and the clients.
Spending time with her family was her favorite thing and cleaning was a close second, but she also loved to read, participate in Bible studies, play cards and games, and she loved looking at and taking care of her flowers. Coffee was her drink of choice, and you would rarely find her without a cup close by nor would you want to! Taking the little kids to the zoo or the fair was something she loved. She enjoyed taking the grandchildren (especially the granddaughters) shopping. She loved when Erin would take a nap with her head on grandma’s lap. She loved to play with Tatum’s beautiful hair. Attending and cheering for Gunnar and Dawson at all their sporting events made her so proud.
Sharon was devoted to her family and is survived by her husband, her partner, her person, her love of 57 years, John; sons, Jason and Erik; grandchildren, Erin, Gunnar, Tatum, and Dawson; and great-grandchildren, Weston and Dylan. She is also survived by her sister, Shirley (David) Larson; brother, Jim (Becky) Browen; sister, Joy (Barry) Seifert; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Lawrance and Florence (Bleeker) Browen, and her sister, Carolyn Jane (Darrell) Heringer.
In Sharon’s own words this is what she would like you to know about her and remember her by:
“I grew up in a very Christin home. I am certain I was introduced to God at a very early age. I believed in Him and His Son, Jesus. Somehow in my mind, I also believed a lie. “Jesus Loves Me”, is probably the first song I ever learned to sing. At what age I changed the words from “Jesus loves me this I know,” to “Jesus loves me when I am good,” I can’t say. I didn’t understand that Jesus loves me because He is good and not because I can EVER be good enough! Unraveling that lie took me well into adulthood. When I needed Him most, Jesus met me, and I experienced His grace. Today I have an intimate, personal relationship with Him, my LORD and Savior. My life hasn’t been perfect, but I know where I am going. Jeremiah 29:11 says it most succinctly, “I KNOW the plans I have for you, declare the LORD, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope”. If you are sitting at my memorial service, you can KNOW I am in heaven with my LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I sure am wondering what Christmas will be like this year. Obviously you were the one who put so much time and energy into making our celebration and our tradition special!! We think about you always and there is no way to think about Christmas without thinking of you!!
If i focus on me and the rest of your family that are still here, I suppose Christmas is gonna seem a bit lonely and unusual, to say the least, for lack of the perfect word!
But I cannot help but think that, OF COURSE, Jesus has been with me my whole life and more than anyone, that is because of you! I know he was in your heart for most to all of your life too, but I am thinking Christmas in Heaven with Jesus right there is probably gonna be pretty different than Christmas with Jesus in your heart In South Dakota, and I really am not guessing. I have NO DOUBT that it is gonna be different in the best possible way and beautiful and amazing beyond my wildest dreams, but it wont be a dream for you this year mom))!!
Merry Christmas Mom, I LOVE YOU
My kids and Erics. John was the same way and they made everyone feel loved as neighbors even when my son started an accident grass fire. The entire family is awesome and we loved Sharon and her family very much! She will be a blessing in heaven with her positive attitude and love for others. So sorry for everyone’s loss she was a one of a kind!
Lord, thank you for allowing our paths to cross. I’m so grateful for your Love shown through your followers. Thank you for Sharon’s beautiful life and legacy. Thank you for your unfailing promises. We love You and thank You for her amazing life and witness. Please comfort John and Sharon’s whole family during this time, give them the comfort and peace only You can give. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. I always loved seeing
And visiting with Sharon at all of the Equitable Functions ! She always had a smile, she is loved
And will be missed by many.
