Warren Zens, 70, of Mitchell, SD, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Thursday, August 3, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7:00 PM at Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Warren Thomas Zens was born on October 22, 1952, to Clement and Elsie (Ehlke) Zens in Mitchell, SD. He grew up in Canova and graduated from Canova High School in 1969. Warren attended Mitchell Tech where he majored in mechanics. In 1975, he married Kathy Kickland, and they had four daughters.

Warren was a master mechanic for 50 years, and provided his services over the years to Mitchell Motors, Adams Standard, Zens Auto Tech, and most recently, TMA until his retirement. He was a hardworking provider for his family, and would go above and beyond to help friends and family with their vehicles and tractor air conditioners, many times late into the night.

Warren is survived by his wife and three daughters: Jenny (Matt) Mackey of Fulton, Beth (Jeff) Shaffer of Mitchell, and Jamie Zens of Mitchell. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Jacob Mackey (Haley Lippert) of Mitchell, Riley Mackey of Alexandria, Michael (Whitney) Shaffer of O'Neil, NE, Alexis (Ed) Quintero of Norfolk, NE, and Hunter and Ricky Shaffer both of O'Neil, NE; six great-granddaughters, and two great-grandsons. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Harley (Ronda) Zens of Canova, Lu Koepsell of Mission Hill, SD, and many nieces and nephews.

Warren was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Missy Zens in 2015; parents, Clement and Elsie Zens; in-laws, Earl and Pearl Kickland; and three brothers-in-law, Greg Koepsell, Bruce Meyer, and William Kickland.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you raise a toast in memory of Warren. They suggest heading to your nearby watering hole and having a Pabst Blue Ribbon in his honor.
